Guided Fly Fishing Trips
Here at Hydro Fishing and Adventure we cater to all skill and experience levels. From highly experienced angler's wanting to chase backcountry trophy brown trout to beginners wanting to build a new skill set, we do it all.
The New Zealand Fly fishing season runs from 1st October - May 31st
Trip Information
For beginner to intermediate anglers, we will go in-depth into casting technique, presentation, fly selection, how to fight a fish effectively, reading the river and spotting fish. After a day on the river with Scotty you will have the skills and confidence to take your fly fishing to the next level.
For experienced anglers wanting to chase their bucket list fish, Scotty is the man. Whether you are wanting to put as many fish in the net as possible, or chasing a New Zealand trophy trout, Scotty will know the perfect river for the job.
To gain access to these fish we can take helicopters to the most remote heat waters in far reaches of the Southern Alps, set out on wilderness camp out missions or drive to some local gems. From the extreme to everything in-between we will make that dream trip a reality.
All tackle, fly rod and reel, are provided along with wading boots and socks. All you need are some warm thermal leggings, warm jacket, wind proof layer and wet weather gear (just in case). We only use the highest quality combos and tackle to give you the best chance to tap into an epic fish. Paired with top notch services that goes above and beyond, you'll be in for a trip of a lifetime.
Cost 1095NZD for up to 2 people, an additional 50NZD per person (maximum 4 people).

Wilderness Camps outs
Wilderness camps are a great way to maximise your value when backcountry and heli fishing. It allows us to spend 2 days and one night on an epic head water. All camping gear, tent, sleeping equipment, dinner and breakfast (Scotty's a pretty good chief!) will be provided.

Heli Fishing
There are some fanstic options to jump in the helicopter and fly to some of the most remote rivers New Zealand has to offer. These rivers generally have very low pressure and very large trout! If this sounds like you, give Scotty a phone call to discuss pricing and options.
